Go Nintendo posted: Man, I was going along just fine…and then my internet died! I was busy typing up an ‘EoD’ thought on my iPhone, and just as I finished it, the net came back. Quite a frustrating way to end the night, but at least all ended well! You guys enjoy the rest of your night/morning, and I’ll catch you in a few, short hours. This week brought a pretty interesting bit of information pertaining to Netflix. We know that the Wii is finally going to see the service made available, and plenty of people are excited about that. It may be the last console to g...

Go Nintendo posted: Did you know that Logorama took home an Oscar for best animated short? We actually featured Logorama on the site, as it included a few nods to game industry developers/publishers. Now the creators of Logorama, Francois Alaux and Herve de Crecy, have signed on to put together a 20 minute short for the Ghost Recon series, which will promote Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. This particular short is going to serve as a prequel to the game, and it’s costing Ubisoft upwards of $10 million. I guess Oscar winners don’t come cheap! Link Go to Source ...

Go Nintendo posted: “THQ went through a lot of pain and restructuring - they took a lot of bullets so we could continue to make our game, and that’s a good indication of their faith in us, and their drive to make great-quality products.” - David Adams, Vigil Games THQ seems to be doing a lot of things right lately, and their business is heading in a good direction. Perhaps I shouldn’t jinx them. I remember saying that things were going well for Majesco, and now they’re in danger of NASDAQ delisting once again. Link Go to Source ...

I’d have to say that this show is unlike any other we’ve done. It’s more relaxed than usual, and we have a lot of things going on at once. Announcements to make, live game demos to discuss with the IRC, and some of the regular stuff thrown in. I really liked the way this show went, and I hope you guys do as well!

This week’s Flipnote creation could start a brand new trend over at the Hatena website. I think this is the first Flipnote personal ad I’ve ever seen! Thanks to Gaming_Bum for sending it our way.

“Less than 20% of console owners have a music game. So, there is upside. Also, we are only two years into (the franchise’s launch) in Europe. And we haven’t even started thinking about Asia yet. There’s plenty of growth left. The game category has been affected (by the recession), but less than other consumer entertainment categories.” – CEO Dan Rosensweig

It seems like Activision isn’t going to stop making Guitar Hero games anytime soon, and CEO Dan Rosensweig will be right there to push things along. When Mr. Rosensweig was asked about Guitar Hero heading in the direction of an iTunes-like service, he didn’t seem all that interested.

“If it helps drive sales of music, we’re thrilled, but we will focus on the core game.”

If all the videos wasn’t enough to excite you, perhaps some evidence of wi-fi events will? This information can be considered a spoiler, I guess. That’s why you’ll have to click over to see it! For those that don’t want things spoiled, just know that there is some very strong evidence that points to future wi-fi events for this title.

It sounds/looks like Marker Man Adventures is an absolutely buggy mess. Perhaps that’s why it’s hard as hell to find the game at retailers. I was going to purchase through Amazon, but after hearing all the negative buzz, I think I’ll hold back.

“One of the most original games we’ve seen.” – GameSpot

I often wonder if blurbs like these really get more people interested in the game. Half the time, the boxes we see out on store shelves don’t even have the plastic wrap on them!

A portion of an RPG Fan review…

Dragon Quest IX is the quintessential DS RPG. It epitomizes the platform’s strengths while managing to mute most of its weaknesses. It’s a fun game with a cute story and a difficulty level that will welcome casual players.

No word on what this could be for either. Maybe it could be for that mature Wii title we’ve been…oh wait, that was Speed Zone. Yes, I’m, still upset about that one, Bethesda!

A portion of a GamePro interview with Wii Sports Resort Producer Katsuya Eguchi…

GP: In Wii Sports Resort, the controller sometimes has to be recalibrated in-game. Is this because of the Wii MotionPlus hardware, or the Wii Sports Resort software? Should we expect to recalibrate several times with future Nintendo Wii MotionPlus-supported games?

Eguchi: There is very precise sensor inside Wii MotionPlus that occasionally needs to be recalibrated, especially when cycling through a variety of different game mechanics, as can be the case with Wii Sports Resort. Sometimes Wii MotionPlus is able to handle this on its own without any action from the user, but it occasionally required a manual recalibration. Of course, we will try to minimize the need for recalibration in the future, and look for ways to make the process of recalibration less impactful on the player.

GP: At E3, Miyamoto-san stated that the next Legend of Zelda would incorporate Wii Motion Plus controls if the sales for Wii Sports Resort were strong enough. Would you say its worldwide reception has met Miyamoto’s goals?

Eguchi: To be honest, I really don’t know what he is planning. I am personally proud of what we achieved with the Swordplay and Archery activities in Wii Sports Resort, so I ask Mr. Miyamoto and Mr. Aonuma all the time to try and integrate similar mechanics into their next Zelda title!

GP
: Do you plan on revisiting Wii Play, Wii Fit, and Wii Music with the new advancements created by Wii MotionPlus and the new gameplay elements included in Wii Sports Resort?

Eguchi: For every new device, we always strive to demonstrate its full capabilities to consumers. Regardless of the title, our goal is to always provide a fresh and original experience, rather than copying what worked in the past.
