Some Wii features from 1up: The Kane and Lynch movie has had its Kane for quite a while in Bruce Willis, and now it's found its Lynch. Screenwriter Kyle Ward tweeted last night that Jamie Foxx is in as the psychologically unbalanced mercenary James Lynch. He had to clarify that he wasn't referencing the movie based on Uncharted that he's also writing, after one user jokingly asked about "a black Nate Drake." We previously reported that producer Adrian Askarieh was impressed by Bruce Willis' enthusiasm for the script. "He...

Some Wii features from 1up: Between the first Sonic the Hedgehog reboot, Golden Axe: Beast Rider and other less than stellar titles, Sega's original IPs have taken a bit of a beating. No more though, the publisher said in a recent interview with Computer and Video Games. "It's important that our old IPs are respected, [and] we need to deliver a good product," said Sega's Mike Hayes. "And in some instances we have done that - look back at when we re-did Sega Rally. It scored well and was moderately successful commercially...

Some Wii features from 1up: At GDC last week, En Masse was showing off its first MMO localization effort, Tera. Those who attended the show floor might have had trouble spotting the booth from amongst the slew of other Asian-market game artwork displayed though; Tera's art style is distinctly Korean -- especially obvious if you're familiar with the likes of Lineage II -- with its long-limbed light and dark elves, and strange rock-like armor covering little-to-no body parts with protruding bits in all the most useless places...

Some Wii features from 1up: Posthumous Cult Gaming How fans keep the memory of cult favorites alive. By Bob Mackey The modern mainstream gaming press is a fickle beast. Sure, some titles will often draw months (or years) of attention from hungry and enthusiastic journalists, but the week after release, it's, "So long, and call us when you get a sequel." And, aside from the odd retrospective, current trends in coverage dictate that games existing outside this small window of time deserve no attention until the point that they're "clas...

Zombies Ate My Neighbors has been rated by the Australian Office of Film and Classification for a Virtual Console release.

Not much else to say about this, but Zombies has been one of the most requested games I’ve seen for a re-release of some sort, and now it looks like Konami and LucasArts have dealt with any problems regarding the game’s publisher / developer agreement.

Who said the Virtual Console had slowed down?

There’s an ancient and oft cited survey floating around the web that claims that Mario is more popular than Mickey Mouse. Sure, sounds believable. Even if the source of the poll has gone unaccredited since 1990. So, in order to present the following article in terms our audience can understand: Mickey is basically the Mario of everything else. …

The internet is often thought of as a well of information, but that’s a flawed metaphor. It’s much more like a worldwide network of networks, if you follow my logic. And as the internet ages, it’s becoming littered with servers, and those servers are becoming littered with old data. …

Licensed games come and go, so most of us don’t bat an eye when titles based on movies and TV shows fall into obscurity. Today, they’re ephemeral by nature, seemingly designed with an expiration date only as far off as the coinciding property’s DVD release date. …

We suppose our regular readers, weaned on the violent acts of Marcus Fenix and Solid Snake, deserve an explanation. Why has GamesRadar devoted five whole days to anthropomorphic rodents and smile time gags on the week Halo 3: ODST hits shelves? It’s partially due to poor scheduling (not necessarily on our part!) and a lifetime of love for The House of Mouse. …

The Week of Disney: You’re soaking in it! Go ahead and pretend these characters mean nothing to you. Once you’re done lying to yourself, pretending you don’t have no connection with the likes of Mickey, Donald and Goofy, let’s marvel at just how astounding it is that almost every person in the world born in the last century shares some familiarity with these characters of unrivaled legacy. …

Nintendo is known for producing unintentionally hilarious promotional videos. In the mid-to-late ‘90s the company pumped out at least one VHS tape a year, each focusing on whatever the newest, greatest release happened to be. Some have become quite famous since then, sprouting all over YouTube and message boards across the net. …

It could be the first game you bought after escaping the bonds of your parents with your very own driver’s license, or the first game you bought with money you earned from your first job. In other words, what was the first game you acquired without having to beg for a Christmahanaquanzika present? …

So what would happen if amoral Balkan sociopath Niko Bellic was in everyone’s favourite cute and cuddly cartoon racer? Would Mario and chums accept him into the line-up with grace and humility? Would Niko keep the lid on all his murderous rage when Yoshi was firing red shells up his tailpipe? Of course, not. This is what would happen if the worlds of Liberty City and the Mushroom Kingdom clashed…

And that got us thinking. What …
